MSIP Gold CFI

Requirements

At any time, an instructor meets the qualifications for MSIP Gold CFI, that instructor may apply to the MSIP Steering Committee for recognition as an MSIP Gold CFI for the purpose of providing:

  1. Ground training; and/or
  2. Initial training; and/or
  3. Recurrent training; and/or
  4. Focused task-specific and/or situational-specific training (for example, landings/approaches, instrument proficiency, and mountain flying); and/or
  5. Mentor/LOFT.

An MSIP Gold-candidate flight instructor must satisfy the following additional criteria:

  1. PMOPA member in good standing for at least the preceding 12 months; and
  2. PMOPA Event attendance:
    1. Attended a PMOPA Convention within the preceding 24 months of the time of initial application, and
    2. Attended either a PMOPA Regional Event or Safety Program event within each of the preceding two calendar years; and
  3. Provided names of five current M-Class clients who support the instructor for MSIP Gold CFI recognition. The PMOPA staff may verify the references; and
  4. M-Class Variant Time Requirement: provided at least 100 hours of flight training in an M-Class Variant in the preceding 24 months; and
  5. Completed the MSIP Mentorship Program with an MSIP Steering Committee member (if this MSIP Mentorship Program option was utilized to satisfy any requirement for the MSIP CFI echelon, it must nevertheless be completed again, but with a different MSIP Steering Committee member); and
  6. Demonstrate knowledge of PMOPA SEF Training Program and PMOPA Operating Practices, and ability to use the knowledge and training resources that support the PMOPA SEF Training Program; and
  7. Served at least three times as a volunteer, contributor/content creator/presenter during the preceding 24 months:
    1. During a PMOPA Convention or Regional/Safety Event.
    2. PMOPA webinar;
    3. PMOPA online training;
    4. PMOPA Magazine article;
    5. As an active participant in a PMOPA Safety Committee or Training Initiative; or
    6. Other volunteer project, as approved by PMOPA’s CEO.
